When star tennis player Rafael Nadal built a tennis center on his native island of Mallorca he furnished it with quite a number of extras including an interactive museum, the Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience. The basis for this unique museum experience has been provided by Master Builders Solutions: the polyurethane-based flooring solution MasterTop 1327 which offers high walking comfort, impact-noise reduction, a wide variety of design options and durability.

 Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience

Rafael Nadal is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
Reflecting his achievements, Nadal converted his former training facilities on the Balearic Island of Mallorca into a multi-use sports and education center.
His former training courts – now expanded into a tennis academy
for children and teens as well as adults – form the heart of the facility. The center also comprises an international school providing a regular curriculum in addition to the professional tennis training at the academy; a guest house; a restaurant serving healthy and nutritious food; specialized sports-medical services. And as a highlight for students and visitors there is the Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience.

Legendary sports history on display

Within an overall area of 1,500 square meters at the Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience are displayed the Nadal’s numerous trophies together with several other interesting and amazing exhibits. Just to name some of them the car driven by Fernando Alonso when he won the 2005 Formula One World Championships, a pair of Michael Phelps’ swimming trunks, Usain Bolt’s running shoes, a golf club formerly owned by Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan’s basketball gear and Sebastian Vettel’s racing helmet.

An interactive museum experience

The Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience combines exhibition with interaction by using cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality and glass-surface projection to offer visitors a truly spectacular and futuristic experience. This approach needed to be reflected into the overall design of the museum and also in a floor as beautiful as resistant, the reason why MasterTop 1327 C was selected for this project.

Endless creative applications

MasterTop 1327 C is a polyurethane-based and liquid-applied flooring system that enables extreme creativity when it comes to floor design. It is available in a very wide color offer to translate into reality the most creative ideas just like it happened for the Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience, where different colors have been used to highlight specific areas of the exhibition and to create guided paths on the floor improving the visitors experience.

Liquid-applied seamless flooring system with great performance and durability

MasterTop 1327 C is a flooring solution combining great performance and durability. The different layers of the system provide high degree of walking comfort and ensure impact-noise reduction even in highly frequented areas. Its bacteriostatic top coat can be realized either with a smooth or skid-resistant finish and to further improve the level of skid resistance specifically designed chips can also be incorporated into the floor surface. The seamless and joint free installation prevents weak spots on the floor and facilitates the cleaning routine.

A sustainable solution

A floor that lasts longer is a sustainable asset as it helps reducing the use of raw-materials, the energy consumption and overall costs. MasterTop 1327 also contributes to improve indoor air quality. In fact it has been tested in accordance with AgBB standards, it is low in emissions as per the AFSSET protocol and complies with the French VOC regulations with the top-grade rating of A+. In addition, systems of the MasterTop 1300 series are A+ listed for different specifications in the Building Research Establishment (BRE)’s Green Guide, that gives designers and specifiers guidance on the best environmental choices when selecting construction materials and components.
